Saturday, September 24, 2011 • 10 am to noon • Guild Meeting
ArtSpace #115, Crestwood Court. Guild member, Carol Nichols, will present her book, The Gospel of Thomas. The book will be available for purchase.

Friday, October 21, 2011 • 7:30 pm • Julian Waters Lecture: Lettering in Design…Design in Lettering
ArtSpace #32 (not our regular space!!!)—near the Food Court elevators. Mr. Waters will show and discuss his work.
Julian Waters is equally at home with pen, brush and computer. He is the son of Sheila and Peter Waters, renowned in the areas of calligraphy and library conservation respectively. Julian studied with, and then succeeded the legendary type designer, Hermann Zapf, in his masterclass at Rochester Institute of Technology. He combined the disciplines of calligraphy and digital design in “Letterform Design”, his graphic design class at the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, D.C. His work includes logos, CD packaging, and titling for books and other publications. He works with design studios, publishers, and ad agencies on projects which are enhanced by the warmth and refinement of calligraphy and hand lettering. Among his many clients is the U. S. Postal Service—the “Bill of Rights” stamp, the “Love” envelope and the multi-year, multisheets “Legends of American Music” series. Julian has produced distinctive lettering for National Geographic Magazine. Recent logos include Amtrak Vacations and MCI WorldPhone. Check out Julian’s website.
